Emmanuel Mission

For many years St. Matthew’s was blessed to be in partner relationship with Emmanuel Mission, a congregation that meets Sunday afternoons for Anglican worship in the Dinka language.  Emmanuel Mission was begun in 2003 by Anglican Christians arriving in Winnipeg as refugees and migrants from South Sudan.  Having outgrown St. Matthew’s smaller space, Emmanuel Mission began meeting at St. Luke‘s (Osborne Village, Winnipeg) in the spring of 2018.

Conversations with Emmanuel Mission’s Women’s Group began in 2014 to develop the Winnipeg Women’s Resource Centre in Bor, South Sudan. This project is a Parish-to-Parish project through PWRDF, the Anglican Church of Canada’s relief and development agency.

We of St. Matthew’s are happy keep connected to our kin of Emmanuel through this project, through shared office space, and through less formal connections.  Blessings from us to Emmanuel Mission!
